The first two stages of the 2024 Tour de France are behind Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe. It was the expected intense Grand Départ, especially for the GC riders. Primož Roglič, Aleks Vlasov and Jai Hindley are in a group 21 seconds behind the leading quartet.
The opening stage took riders from Florence to the Adriatic coast. 3600 meters of climbing and temperatures well over 30 degrees Celsius presented the riders with extraordinary challenges at the already hectic start of a Tour de France. The team's tactic was for the GC trio to reach Rimini unscathed and at the same time as the competition - goal achieved.
The second stage to Bologna had fewer meters of elevation, but once again the race was dominated by a climb. The steep kicker to San Luca, an icon of cycling, played a decisive role in the finale. As expected, the favorites attacked here. While Roglič had beaten Pogačar exactly nine months ago in the same place, this time he had to let him go. Pogačar took the yellow jersey - the trio Red Bull - BORA - Hansgrohe finished 21 seconds behind.
