At the European Cycling Championships in Belgium, the German rider from GRENKE - Auto Eder secured his second medal at a major international event. His Italian teammate Lorenzo Finn also showed top form, finishing in seventh place.

After winning the silver medal at the 2023 Junior Road World Championships, Paul Fietzke has now also claimed bronze at the European Championships. The 18-year-old German finished third in today’s time trial. Fietzke covered the 31.3-kilometre course between Heusden-Zolder and Hasselt at an average speed of exactly 50.0 kilometres per hour (37:31 minutes), finishing behind Dutchman Michiel Mouris (37:08 minutes) and Belgian hometown favourite Jasper Schoofs (37:15 minutes).

Another impressive performance came from the second GRENKE - Auto Eder starter in today’s peloton: 17-year-old Italian Lorenzo Finn finished in seventh place with a time of 37:54 minutes, 46 seconds behind the winner. The next major highlight for the Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe juniors at the 2024 European Championships will be the mixed relay tomorrow, followed by the road race on Saturday.

“I’m more than happy with the podium finish. Last week, I crashed at the GP Rüebliland in Switzerland, so I wasn’t sure if I’d even be able to compete. I’m glad it worked out, and standing on the podium makes me very proud. My form is definitely strong. Tomorrow, we have another chance for a medal in the mixed relay event.” – Paul Fietzke

“Paul delivered a very strong performance today and paced the race perfectly. The medal is a testament to his impressive season. Lorenzo, our second rider, also finished in the top seven. For our team, this is a great start to the European Championships.” – Dr. Christian Schrot, Sports Director
